SandTable

This is not client work but our own product. A kinetic sand table is a piece of furniture in which a steel ball slowly traces patterns in sand and erases them to begin the next one.

A handful of workshops in the world make these, and every one of them is imported. We built our own — mechanics through to firmware — so that it exists in Uzbekistan.

The project was assembled from zero, without off-the-shelf kits.

• Electronics — an ESP32-based control board
• Firmware — our own C/C++ scripts: path processing, drive control and pattern playback
• Mechanics and enclosure — parts designed in-house and 3D-printed
• Patterns — a library of paths the table draws and replaces one after another
